5 Things To Do Before Summer Ends
Summer is about to come to an end.
We know, we know. It feels like it’s about to be over far too soon. But as the saying goes, it’s not over until it’s over.
If you still want to get as much of that summer feeling as possible, why not plan something fun?
It definitely doesn’t have to be big or expensive. It might even surprise you at how much fun you can have without spending a lot of money.
Plus, it’s sure to wipe away any lingering feelings of FOMO.
We’ve compiled a list of activities you have to do before summer ends. Whether you’re staying local or decide to venture out one more time, these are activities worth seeing and doing.
Go Swimming
You can go swimming any time of the year, but now is the best time to swim and enjoy the sunshine. If you live near the beach or a lake, plan to spend a day there.
If swimming isn’t enough of a reason for you, here’s a fun fact: Spending time near water actually improves your mental health. If you’ve ever felt that blissful, soothing feeling by being near water, you’re not alone. It calms you down, lowers stress, and gives a general sense of well-being. This explains why so many people can’t wait to plan a beach vacation.
It’s all the more reason to pack a swimsuit and head out.
Oh, and don’t forget the sunscreen!
Plan a Day Trip
Have you ever spent time in one of the towns surrounding yours? Now would be the best time to do so. Do a quick search on your surrounding towns and see what they have to offer.
Not quite sure what to look for? See if you have a nature preserve close by. There could be a museum, a hiking trail, or even a botanical garden in one of your neighboring towns that people flock to.
It’s amazing what gems are right around the corner. Bring a friend or two and go explore!
Plan a Staycation
It’s popular to stay inside and binge Netflix for a staycation. For the end of summer, why not get out and explore your own town? How many places have you passed and thought about going to but haven’t found the time? Now is the best time to see your town in a whole new way.
If a day trip isn’t an option, pretend to be a tourist. A quick Google search of your town will bring up what visitors are flocking to see. Is your town known for a sport? Or are there festivals surrounding a particular food? Or is the theater scene in your town unlike any other?
Check out what events are going on and make it a point to go.
You can also make a list of places you’ve never been and check them out. Who knows? You may find a favorite new restaurant or place to hang out.
Read a Book
When was the last time you read a book for your own enjoyment? Do you have a reading list that’s a mile long but haven’t made a dent in it? Pick one from that list and dive into a novel.
If you don’t have a reading list, then check out your local library. Not only is it free, but they’re happy to make recommendations based on what you like. Whether you’re a fan of fiction, non-fiction, romance, or fantasy, there’s something that’s topping the list of your genre.
If you’re a tech-savvy person, a lot of libraries now offer ebooks and audiobooks as an option. With so many options to explore, you’re guaranteed to find something. Plus, it’s always an impressive talking point when you can tell everyone about a book you loved. You may even inspire them to do the same.
Sleep!
Before vacation is over, it’s always good to catch up on some zzz’s. There’s no shame in choosing rest over everything else. We’re huge fans of taking care of yourself.
There’s a ton of health benefits to getting enough sleep. It boosts your immune system and makes you all-around sharper. Plus, when you get back to work or school, you’ll look so refreshed. Everyone will want to know your secret.
We’d love to hear what you’re doing to wind down before going back to school or work. Are you doing anything from our list? Or do you have something planned that’s completely different? Sound off in the comments and let us know!
